The plants of the wood range from the minor mosses to the giant standards.

The standard trees in the eastern part of the wood seem to be mainly oaks although there are some chestnuts which have escaped the coppicing regime and a few other species including alder and poplar which are going the same way. There is also a small group of Scots Pines in Knelle Wood South but they seem to be the exception.
