THE OLD
RECTORY
PEASMARSH

The Old Rectory at Peasmarsh, together with the adjoining glebe land, was sold by the Diocese in early 2015 as it was no longer required by the parish. It is a Grade II listed building. The listing, which includes a description and a brief history, can be viewed online [opens new tab].

The building was originally a typical frame house of the mid 16th century. It was 'modernised' in the 17th century. In the 1930's it was substantially enlarged, at which time the frame was absorbed into the new structure. Try hovering over the picture to see the spirit within :

February 20 2016 : it is exactly a year since we became the owners of The Old Rectory. There is no cake to cut but it is worth reviewing what we have achieved in that time, remembering that we gave ourselves two years to sort out the house and ten years to sort out the garden.

February 20 2017 : it is exactly two years since we became the owners of The Old Rectory. We have again reviewed what we have achieved in the past twelve months, remembering the timescales that we gave ourselves.

February 20 2018 : another year has galloped past so it is again time to review what we have achieved. By this stage we are trying to forget the original timescale for the house work but at least we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

February 20 2019 : it is now a full four years since taking ownership of the Old Rectory and tradition dictates that we again review what we have achieved in the last twelve months. It wasn't a good year in at least one sense but we did achieve a lot [and the light at the end of the tunnel is growing stronger!].

February 20 2020 : five full years have passed since taking ownership of the Old Rectory so we have again reviewed what we have achieved in the last twelve months. Considering the circumstances, we achieved a lot and the work on the house is creeping towards completion.

February 20 2021 : six full years have passed since taking ownership of the Old Rectory so we have again reviewed what we have achieved in the last twelve months. Considering the circumstances, we achieved a lot and the work on the house is now considered complete.

March 10 2022 : seven full years [and a bit!] have passed since taking ownership of the Old Rectory so we have again reviewed what we have achieved in the last twelve months. From now on only the garden features in the report.
